Is “Christ Is King” an antisemitic or racially divisive group?

We can’t believe this needs to be said, but no, we are not. We have been made aware by numerous people that some are claiming we’re part of an antisemitic or racially divisive group, supposedly co-opting “Christ Is King” in a nefarious way.

We are well aware that the term “Christ Is King” has been abused by others. We’ve been paying attention to this too. In fact, we even discussed using “Jesus Is Lord” or “Christ Is Lord”. But we chose not to change it, and here’s why. As time goes on, you will see that we affirm historic Christianity and hold tightly to the timeless biblical truths that have been the foundation of the Church throughout history. We will not yield an inch to the spirit of the age when it comes to biblical truth.

Yes, there are public figures such as Nick Fuentes, Candace Owens, and others who have used “Christ Is King” in ways that sow division or hatred. We condemn this. We condemn antisemitism. We condemn racially divisive movements.

It’s unfortunate to see how some are using 'Christ is King' nowadays, because it distorts what His kingship truly represents: His rule of grace, justice, and peace over all nations, calling all people to repentance and faith. There’s peace and joy that comes with surrendering to His Lordship. That is why we have chosen to reclaim and proclaim this truth in its proper context: as a celebration of His lordship that unites us in worship and mission, not as a slogan meant to divide or provoke. We want it to serve as a reminder of the hope we have in Him, regardless of how others misuse it.

“If God is the Creator of the entire universe, then it must follow that He is the Lord of the whole universe. No part of the world is outside of His lordship. That means that no part of my life must be outside of His lordship. His holy character has something to say about economics, politics, athletics, romance—everything with which we are involved.”
R.C. Sproul, The Holiness of God

If you understand how the enemy works, you know he takes what God has made good and erodes it. We see this with marriage. We see it with gender. And now we see it with the Lordship and Kingship of Christ. If the devil can co-opt “Christ Is King,” twist it into something ugly, and convince Christians that they should not proclaim it, he wins. We will not give in.

Jesus is in the business of redemption and restoration, and as His followers, so are we. That is why we will redeem and restore the phrase “Christ Is King” to its proper, biblical meaning.

“Christ Is King” is not just a slogan, it is a biblical confession at the very heart of our faith. Scripture proclaims Jesus Christ as the sovereign Lord over all creation. Psalm 2, Colossians 1:15-20, and Revelation 19:16, are just a few examples. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. This is a confession rooted in the historic Christian belief that Christ reigns supreme, both now and forever.
